Cheek teeth extractions are always a last resort. Good regular dental care allows early detection of dental disease and helps prolong the life of each tooth.
However, there are circumstances when a tooth is so diseased or painful that it requires extraction and in these instances, we pride ourselves in providing an exceptional service to both you and your horse.
Nearly 100% of our cheek tooth extractions are performed intra orally under standing sedation using nerve blocks. This technique is pain free, has the lowest complication rates and allows for a fast recovery. Most horses go home 2-3 hours post surgery and can usually be ridden a week later.
